NeuRA Crash Lab

Health, Industrial

Datalec was contracted to design and install the electrical control systems at a crash test lab at NeuRA (Neuroscience Research Australia). The intricate circuitry evolved over several reconsiderations and was ultimately integrated into a custom control board. The system was designed to be capable of controlling 18 Plasma Lights, 3 motorised hoists, a panto-graph and 24 switches, all built into an OR logic, transferring control across 3 different locations in the lab at a given instance of time.

The project was delivered to the client directly and involved intensive coordination between the faculty at NeuRA, Spanish crash test equipment manufacturer Escribano and Australian events lighting manufacturer, Jands.

The experiments conducted here would be able to prevent thousands of road injuries. Initially, this lab will simulate vehicle crashes and enable researches to design better seat belts(1) which, in turn, will help keep the drivers and the community safe. This installed system would be used by the end user as a medium to enable a research serving a noble cause of making Australian roads safer.

Datalec is fortunate to contribute to this project.
